The Great Debate
The debate of whether the student comes first or the athlete has been around since the start of not only college sports, but high school sports too. When these student athletes are accepted into a university or make their high school team, the thought is for them to get an education while also doing what they're best at. Take college basketball and football for example. These student athletes are so young and have so much energy left, they are more often watched than majority of professional athletes. Even in some cases, they're famous than some of the professionals themselves. The only difference between these two types of athletes is that the professional are paid millions of dollars, while the student athlete sacrifices his or her's education and may be kicked out of their school once they begin to profit from their sport. That is where the debate starts. What comes first, the student or the athlete?
